The Breastfeeding Diaries and Post Round Up 8th July 2014

So, did I make a breakthrough this weekend with nursing in front of the In-Laws?  Maybe not quite a breakthrough, more like a tiny chip.  I wrote about Breastfeeding in front of visitors a few weeks back and the issues I have around this.

The In-Laws visited this week and we arranged a trip out to take Princess to her favourite miniature railway.  It was a lovely day and we also discovered a new sensory garden that everyone enjoyed.  Tinkerbell was going to need feeding while we were out, so I was going to have to bite the bullet.

OK I wasn’t so brave as to flop out a boob out over tea and cake with Granddad, rather I slopped off to a quiet bench while they checked out the Model Railways in the Portakabin, but it was progress for me.  This tact will get us by I hope.

But enough of my rather lame story of In-Laws and boobs, there were some amazing stories shared last week, and two deserve a special mention.

Jenny from The Brick Castle shared this post about her sheer determination to feed her baby when support was pretty non existent.  Some times Breastfeeding requires every ounce of determination you have and I don’t think anyone prepares you for that.  We’re so lucky these days to have more support available so if you are struggling, get some help. It can make the world of difference.  Sometimes it’s just one small nugget of advice that makes all the difference.

The other story that touched me was Beau Twins Mummy and her story of feeding her twins.   Even contemplating feeding twins scares me!  She did such an amazing job, it’s just a shame it came to an end sooner than she would have liked it to.  It bought it home to me how much of an impact Dads have on the Breastfeeding relationship.

Thanks so much to all the Mums that have shared their stories so far.  If your new to The Breastfeeding Diaries, welcome! I can’t wait to find out about your journey.  Just grab the badge and follow the rules below.

It sounds like you took a brave first step. I imagine it to be quite daunting breastfeeding in front of in-laws, but so long as you do what you feel comfortable with that’s all that matters. Off to read the twin breastfeeding post now! I tried to breastfeed my twins, but they were small being premature – but they did have my milk for a good while as I expressed every three hours day and night for them x

Hey Zena, funny how bf in front of certain people feels different! Luckily my in-laws have always been amazingly supportive and encouraging and I have no hesitation about feeding in front of them, yet I hide from my own folks!

Lovely to read your story and to link up with other bf mums.

Really pleased you made a little progress hon. Sounds like you are doing marvellously well! Nothing again from me this week, but as soon as I’ve written anything booby related I’ll link up 🙂

Ah I struggle feeding when I go the in-laws. Have you tried a Snoob? I love mine 🙂
