We love Lakeside Arts here in Nottingham, it’s one of our favourite family places to go. We love the theatre, and walking round the park.  I’ve recently discovered they have an archeology museum and the cafes are great for a coffee and cake stop.  There’s definitely something for everyone.

One of the highlights in the Lakeside Arts program is Wheee! The Childrens Festival, this May half term.  If you’re looking for something to do that will inspire and excite your little ones this half term, Wheee! is the place to be.

The week’s activities are jam packed, seeing the return of the Architects of Air with their latest monumental structure, Arboria.  This airlock with fill your child’s mind with wonder as they explore the iridescent beauty of the light and colour created within it.  It truly is a fine spectacle for all ages.

It wouldn’t be a Lakeside event without the very best in family theatre stopping by. Action Transport Theatre will be performing STATik on Monday 25th May.  The performance promises humor, high energy and lots of clowning around in this wordless story about Mikey’s first day at work.  If you’ve not got a ticket yet, grab one fast as this is a popular show!

Not forgetting the under 3’s either,  the Toddler’s Room is a stunning piece of mini dance from Norway, guaranteed to reach out to the very youngest audience.  This interactive performance will enchant the audience with an array of sculptures, sounds and beautiful costumes for a wholly magical experience.

Wheee! always finishes with a splendid family event bringing the weeks activities to an amazing climax.  Offering arts, crafts, drumming workshops and the opportunity to Meet The Dinosaur, there will be so much to do, there will be no room for any ‘I’m bored’ this half term holiday.

Have you been to Wheee! before?  Would you recommend it to other families?
