With the current state of the world still very much trying to come to terms with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s reasonable to assume that a lot of people’s travel plans have been put on hold for the foreseeable future. We are all having to accommodate the coronavirus in different ways (like embracing home learning!).  For a person with a major love for travel and holidays, that will most likely be in the form of having to halt your plans for the year and stay at home to do your part in flattening the curve and ridding your area of the transmitted cases one by one.

With that in mind, here are some of the ways that you can satisfy your wanderlust when you can’t travel and to keep your enthusiasm burning for the day that you are finally able to resume your travelling life once again!

Learn A Foreign Language

Do something productive in preparation for your next trip by learning a new foreign language. This is not only good for someone who has ambitions for travel in the future, but it is also something that can help the hours to go by during boring times in lockdown! Downloading an app like Babbel can help you learn any language you want, you can even learn Turkish if you want to!

Watch Foreign Movies

Once you have a flavour of a new language, you can test those skills out by renting lots of foreign movies to watch. It can be really immersive to throw yourself in to movie universes that aren’t the usual American or British stories.

Cook International Cuisine

Make up a fun schedule for your weekly dinner times and commit to cooking cuisine from different countries every night of the week. There is a veritable smorgasbord of amazing food that is waiting to be cooked from all corners of globe.

Relive Past Trips

Now that you are stuck at home, it is the perfect time to finally get around to reliving your past trips and organising photo albums and scrapbooks to memorialise them forever. It can be fun to revisit old snaps and videos that you took long ago.

Read Travel Books

Get online and order a bunch of travel books that will help to satisfy your craving for adventure and new experience. Famous travel authors like Bill Bryson can give you a taste of the rest of the world even when you aren’t able to go anywhere yourself.

Be A Tourist in Your Own City

The one place that you probably can travel around freely at the moment is your own city, so treat that like a new place and cover it in the way that a tourist would! Hit all of the landmarks, hotspots, museums, and galleries etc. to make it feel as though you are a first-time visitor to your own backyard.

Plan Your Next Big Trip

When all you’ve got is time on your hands, you might as well fill it with plans for your next big trip! Not only does this provide some escapism and motivation for new places, but it also means that as soon as you are able to start travelling again, you will have a plan to book and go straight away!

So, what other ways can you think of to satisfy those feelings of wanderlust when not able to do the travelling that you are used to? If you have any more tips and tricks up your sleeve, then please don’t hesitate to share by commenting down below!
