Days Out

If you read our blog post about going to the Nickelodeon Treasure Hunt in Malta, you might already have spotted that we visited the Esplora Interactive Science Centre.  Esplora Malta made such an impression on us that I had to share a review from our visit.  My husband is the hardest to impress when it comes to days out and attractions in our family, and he loved visiting here with the kids, which is a real testament to what a great place this is to visit in Malta. Family Day Out at Twinlakes Last half term the girls had an inset day following the week off.  I went online and had a look at Twinlakes ticket prices, and because it was ‘off peak’ to them it was just £8.50 a ticket.  It was a no brainer really, I booked tickets for Indie, Brook and I and had my fingers crossed for a blue sky day for our family day out. How to Find Twinlakes Twinlakes is just 45 minutes from Nottingham, just outside Melton Mowbray.  It’s now in

Drayton Manor’s Magical Christmas is back for 2018 and it’s the perfect day out for the festive season. We took Indie, 6 years old, and Brook, 4 years old, back to Drayton Manor Park after a 2 year break. I’m really not sure why we left it so long as it’s always been one of our favourite days out in the East Midlands. Indie and Brook were beyond excited about their day out before they even got through the turnstiles. There was a lot of singing, dancing and running and

We have been putting together our plans for things to do in Nottingham for Halloween and we soon realised there are lots of events to keep kids busy for October half term.  We love spooky fun Halloween events that the whole family can enjoy and we have picked out the best in the region just for you. There are free things to do for Halloween as well as great days out and activities.  No matter what your budget, we will soon have you out and about enjoying the best of

If you are planning things to do with kids in Bristol any time soon, then I really think that a visit to the SS Great Britain should make it to the top of your list. We were lucky enough to visit recently with the girls, and were completely inspired by what turned out to be a fun and interactive day out for all the family. The walk towards the SS Great Britain was perfect for setting the scene for our day out.  We made our way from The Bristol Wing

Visiting Devon gave us as a family the chance to learn more about the fascinating Jurassic Coast and the incredible history and geology connected to this beautiful part of the UK.  Seaton Jurassic is an attraction I really think you should add to your list of things to do in Devon if you are keen to learn more about the dinosaurs that once lived here during prehistoric times.  Seaton Jurassic is a hands on and interactive exhibition that children of all ages will enjoy.  Brook who is 3 years old,

Kids and transport go so well together, so it seemed obvious for us to include a visit to Seaton Tramway on our recent holiday to Devon.  If you are staying at Andrewshayes Holiday Park, it literally is on your doorstep. A really good option for visiting this Devon attraction is to drive to the tram station at Colyton and catch the tram to Seaton for a fantastic fun filled family day out. Seaton Tramway Review We left the car at Colyton in the free car park and headed into the

I’m sure that you’ve realised by now that our holiday to Cornwall was literally packed with fun things to do.  I’m going to share a week long travel guide to staying in Cornwall shortly, but before I get to that post I’ve got one more family day out to share with you.  While we were staying at Porthleven Holiday Cottages we travelled down to Gweek to visit the Cornish Seal Sanctuary. This wasn’t just any visit to see the seals, as we were going to be enjoying a very special

Everyone in the family was super excited about visiting the Eden Project during our Cornwall road trip. For many years I’ve wanted to tick Eden Project, Cornwall’s most famous and iconic attraction, off my UK bucket list.  During our Cornwall holiday I found out my husband felt the same way.  The kids asked ‘what is the Eden Project’, and seeing as I’d found the best explanation on the Eden Project website, I told them ‘it’s the largest rainforest in captivity’, as well as some other interesting botanical components of course!

Even when the weather takes a turn for the worse, the family still needs a good day out to lift the spirits. If you are looking for places to visit or things to do with the kids this Autumn, I’ve got 5 tried and tested family days out I think you will love. Drayton Manor Park Drayton Manor Park’s More Trick Than Treat event is back for another year between 14th and 26th October.  Thomas Land and the rest of the theme park will be transformed for lots of spooky

September is here and the autumn button has been pressed but how do you keep having fun as a family in the colder months?  The summer is all about going outdoors and making the most of the sunshine and we are often left wanting to keep that momentum going, despite the change in season.  I’ve been thinking about how to keep that holiday feeling alive, and it inspired me to write 17 things to do in autumn with kids for the blog, so here we go.. Things To Do In

Buckland Abbey is just a few minutes drive from the Moorland Garden Hotel and very close to Yelverton, so it’s a perfect family day out if you are visiting Devon.  As you may remember from our review of the hotel, we had to postpone our visit to Buckland Abbey due to the rain.  After spending a day relaxing at the hotel, we were certainly ready to get started again and were very much looking forward to seeing which moor otter we were going to meet and learn more about Buckland

Monkey Forest at Trentham Gardens is a very unique and special place.  We visited the Barbary Macaques as a family a few years ago, and I was very impressed with how we were just able to roam through the forest watching the monkeys going about their daily business. Our youngest daughter hasn’t been to Monkey Forest and I was keen to take her to experience it for herself.   I also thought it would be a lovely thing to do with her before the school holidays get under way.  She loves seeing

The Easter holidays always cause a bit of a dilemma in our household. Taking place half way between the festive fun of the Christmas break the long summer holidays, finding days out that the whole family can enjoy seems to get more difficult every year. Luckily, there are plenty of experiences in and around the capital that are sure to keep everyone happy and no one should be put off experiencing them in the light of recent events. As you might already know, we have been lucky enough to be selected as Warwick Castle Blogger Ambassadors.  We visited for the first time back in January, and had a great family day out.  We literally can’t wait to go back for the day or enjoy one of their short breaks later in the year. If you are planning on being a regular visitor to Warwick Castle I strongly recommend getting your hands on the Warwick Castle Annual Pass, it’s great value and provides you with endless fun days out throughout the

Many people enjoy driving, but no everyday journey can beat a special driving experience. The main problem that people have is that it is so expensive to buy these types of cars, and then it’s not even the car that costs money but also the up keep and insurance. You could at least take a look at someone like Money Expert who might be able to get you the cheapest insurance possible, but it would still be incredibly expensive. That’s why these types of special driving experiences are a thing

Everybody we spoke to about Warwick Castle raved about what a great day out it was, so when we visited Royal Leamington Spa for the weekend, we knew we had to go.  We took the girls to Cardiff Castle last year and we were really impressed with how much they enjoyed it.  You might not think that a castle is the ideal place to take a 2 and a 4 year old for a day out, but they absolutely loved it.  What really sold me on the idea of wanting to visit more

Kew Gardens is a beautiful open space in Richmond Upon Thames, South West London.  A while a go, the girls and I were invited to visit Kew Gardens for the day by The Original Muck Boot Company.  I was really excited to take the girls to Kew Gardens to explore, as it was a place that none of us had visited. Kew Gardens attracts all kinds of visitors as it’s a beautiful place, full of iconic buildings and rare and significant plants.  It also attracts lots of families who enjoy open

Do you know when a day out is just so good, you firstly struggle to pick your favourite moment and secondly, you are still talking about it a week later.  That’s exactly what happened to us when we visited West Midlands Safari Park for the day.  It’s been somewhere I’ve wanted to visit for a while, so when they got in touch with us on Twitter, I was absolutely delighted and accepted the invitation immediately.

Airbourne is more than just an airshow, it’s a four day free child friendly festival that everyone in the family can enjoy.  The event takes place between the 11th and 14th August and is perfect for keeping kids entertained during the school holidays.  Airbourne is held along the Eastbourne sea front, providing a great viewing platform for the show stopping flying formations across the 2 mile long display zone. It’s become an incredibly popular event with thousands attending every summer.  Many people have this in their calendar every year, and literally wouldn’t miss

Last year Daddy and I took the kids to the local seaside for a day trip.  The weather wasn’t particularly great but we were determined to spend the day playing in the sand.  The rain had slightly different ideas, and did put a slight dampener on things.  Our youngest daughter wasn’t on her feet yet, so she was on lock down under the rain cover in her buggy.  Princess was drowned in her Thomas Land poncho but at least she was able to enjoy the sand a little bit more

When we took our holiday in Pembrokeshire, one thing I really wanted to do was visit Folly Farm Park.  While we were staying at Bluestone National Park Resort, we were lucky enough to be able to spend lots of time with our friends,  Kaz and Pickle from Ickle Pickles Life and Travels.  They have become great friends of ours over the course of our blogging journey and it was lovely to be able to catch up with them during our holiday. As a surprise, Kaz very kindly arranged for us all to have

Drayton Manor Park is our favourite local family days out by far. There is no doubt in my mind that it is the best family theme park in the UK but I’m sure you’d like to know why wouldn’t you?  Read on and we will tell all about this popular visitor’s attraction in the Midlands. If I get talking to someone who is looking for a family day out, I am the first to recommend Drayton Manor Park and Thomas Land above all the places we have visited over the years.

Eureka! Children’s Museum has been on our days out bucket list for quite some time. I was first introduced to Eureka! about a year ago when I was lucky enough to be able to offer Zena’s Suitcase readers the chance to win a family pass.  At the time I wasn’t able to visit myself with Little Pudding being just a baby, but fortunately we were lucky enough to receive another invite.

Lapland UK: This week we went on a very special road trip to visit the most magical of all Christmas destinations.  We set off from Nottingham in search of Lapland UK to find Santa and his  Christmas elves.  We were given a destination of the Enchanted Forest.  Fortunately, sat nav had heard of it. It was going to be our biggest and most exciting mission this Christmas.

Drayton Manor Theme Park invited us to the opening night of their amazing end of season finale.  As brand ambassadors it was our pleasure to join them for their amazing Fireworks   Spectacular.  To celebrate their 65th Anniversary year the War Of The Worlds inspired fireworks display promised to be the park’s best yet.

We couldn’t let the bank holiday go by without a trip to our favourite theme park, Drayton Manor.  If you caught up with this post, you’ll already know we squeezed in a trip to the beach. We have visited the park a lot over the summer as we have Drayton Manor season passes and are very proud to be brand ambassadors for them.
