We spent our first morning taking it slow, wandering around St George’s Bay, near the Intercontinental

Welcome back to the Zena’s Suitcase podcast!  I’m really excited to share episode 3 with you today.  We are going to Morocco for February half term and we are very excited as this is our first time visiting the country. It seemed like a great time to share with you how we get ready for a family trip.  In this episode I’m talking about how we plan our trip and get the kids involved in picking our activities.  We share a structure that works for us and helps prevent meltdowns

We’ve been travelling with 2 kids for a while now.  Indie is nearly 7 and Brook will be 5 in the summer and with a few holidays and road trips under our belt we have definitely worked out what makes our life easier.  I don’t think there is a family travel blogger out there that would say travelling with children is easy, but the rewards are so worth it.  We 3 Travel blog sums it up so well in her post about planning the best Mother and Daughter trips I

Have you booked your February half term holidays yet?  If the answer is no these ideas could be just what you are looking for.  February is a great time to take a family holiday as prices are generally low to reasonable and it’s always nice to have something to look forward to isn’t it! The cold weather can also be a huge factor for booking a holiday with kids.  My daughter has been asking when it’s going to be summer every day this week.  The frosty mornings seem to be

Festivals are the perfect way to celebrate summer as a family.  The UK’s best family friendly festivals are packed with activities, music, theatre and story telling.  They are the ultimate summer party and there are plenty of festivals out there that are completely kid friendly. Why visit a family friendly festival? Because they give you the opportunity to camp more on child friendly sites and you get to enjoy the freedom of being outside on those hazy days of summer with a packed program of activities that everyone will enjoy.

Hello readers! How are you?  Welcome back to my ‘Win a Holiday’ feature!  I hope you have had a great week and you are looking forward to Christmas. I’ll be honest, December has been a bit of a rollercoaster for me and I’m really ready for a break with my family.  When I was feeling a little bit low last week, I wanted to do something to cheer myself up.  Nothing makes me happier than helping Zena’s Suitcase readers and the first ‘holiday giveaways‘ post was published. The holiday competitions

Did you know that you can now stay at Devon’s best family day out attraction, Crealy Resort and Adventure Park?  We were invited to stay in a safari tent at Crealy Meadows with our 2 kids aged 4 and 6 years old.  It could well be the best glamping in Devon for kids and here’s why. Glamping at Crealy Meadows is a great option for families looking for places to stay in Devon AND it’s literally right next door to Crealy’s Great Adventure Park which is perfect for little people’s legs.

I’m guessing that if you have come here to find out about things to do in Tenerife, you have already booked your family holiday, but just incase you need some ideas I also have a great article on the top all inclusive hotels on this beautiful island that you might like to check out too.  If you are still deciding whether you should visit Tenerife, I hope reading this post will convince you that you will have a varied and interesting sunshine holiday here. Tenerife is such great destination for

All Inclusive family holidays are a great option for parents who want a stress free break with the kids.  When you know that all your meals, snacks and drinks are included in the price it makes planning for your holiday so much easier.  It’s a huge peace of mind knowing that the kids can get an ice cream or a snack when they fancy one, and I know Mum’s and Dad’s really value the wine and cocktails on offer.  You are on holiday after all! If you are looking for

If you are looking for family friendly hotels in Son Bou, Menorca you will not go far wrong with booking a holiday at Royal Son Bou Family Club.  We were lucky enough to stay at Royal Son Bou last year and it was definitely one of our favourite family holidays of 2017.  If you would like to find out more about our experience you can read our Royal Son Bou Family Club holiday review here. I think sometimes Menorca is a misunderstood island, and ends up carrying the reputation of

While France and Italy may be higher on your list of must-visit destinations for your next family holiday, you may be missing a trick by not giving beautiful Norway a try.  In this post, we hope to change your mind by whetting your appetite and encouraging you to see Norway as the truly great place for family holidays it really is. The People Are Incredibly Friendly in Norway One thing that stands out immediately when you travel to Norway is the fact that Norwegians are incredibly friendly. Every country throughout

We reached the Moorland Garden Hotel in Devon on a complete high.  It was the final hotel on our moor otter spotting tour and we had just come from the nearby town of Yelverton.  Our excitement stemmed from our visit to The Rock Inn.  During our otter spotting escapades we would try and guess which otter we were going to find next.  My daughter thought this was so much fun and it added a little more excitement to our endeavours. As we entered the car park for The Rock Inn

During our visit to Devon this summer we were invited to the Two Bridges Hotel which can be found in the very heart of the exceptionally beautiful Dartmoor National Park.  It’s also the sister hotel of The Bedford Hotel, where we also had the pleasure of staying for the night during our visit to Tavistock. On arrival, we drove over the bridge that leads towards the characteristically white buildings of the hotel in anticipation, wondering how the Two Bridges Hotel would compare to the Bedford Hotel which had made such a big impression

We had been looking forward to arriving at the Bedford Hotel in Tavistock for a few days by the time we checked in.  We had been camping at a festival over the weekend, and the lack of hot showers and mud had finally got to us.  We began to fill with excitement as sat nav announced we had arrived at the Bedford Hotel in Devon and got parked in the hotel carpark as quickly as we could.  A car has never been unpacked quite so quickly, and my daughter and

Each year, millions of tourists flock to the golden sands of Tenerife in search of the best all inclusive hotels. The largest Canary Island is the perfect place to enjoy a holiday, whether you’re travelling with your friends, family or as a couple. The island’s beautiful scenery, warm climate and fabulous nightlife has made it a hit with holidaymakers from all over the world, but what if you want to experience a Tenerife holiday on an all inclusive basis? Which are the best hotels in Tenerife? As one of the

This summer I’m focusing our family travel experiences very much on the UK.  It’s a perfect time of year to enjoy what our country has to offer in terms of family holidays and I really want my children to understand that the country where they live is just as beautiful as destinations abroad. Travelling in your own country is a great way to enjoy and celebrate your own culture and heritage and what’s even better is it’s really accessible for families.  As soon as the summer holidays begin, the car

Self catering accommodation is a great option for families looking to book a relaxing holiday together.  Hundredrooms is an excellent resource for finding self catering holidays around the world to suit your needs.  Not only does it compare prices so that you get the best deals but you can also specify your family’s specific requirements.  So if you can’t live without wifi or want use of a pool it’s a great place to start your holiday search. As you already know from my recent holiday to France, I love the flexibility

What do you look for in a family holiday? Is quality accommodation at the top of your list? Do you like to be surrounded by natural beauty? Does the family insist on visiting a resort with an excellent swimming pool? Perhaps your holiday isn’t perfect without a beautiful beach to build sandcastles on? If all of these things are important to you then I think you are going to love this post about our family holiday with Yelloh! Village Les Grands Pins. During May half term we flew to Bordeaux

We took our young children to Royal Son Bou Family Club in Menorca for a holiday recently and can honestly say we were very impressed with this all inclusive holiday resort for lots of reasons.  If you follow my Instagram account you might have caught a glimpse of what we got up to. I’ve got a few blog posts to share with you about our family holiday in Menorca, and I’ll be talking about where we ate, where we visited and what we loved about the island.  First of all I’m going

During May half term we are lucky enough to be visiting Yelloh Village Camping Les Grands Pins near Bordeaux for a family holiday.  We are really looking forward to this trip as it’s been a long while since we have visited anywhere other than Paris in France.  As well as planning the finer points of a trip like this, I love to spend some time thinking about what I’m looking forward to.  It helps to inform our family travel itinerary and make the most of our holiday experience.  Once I know what

When our holiday to Butlins was confirmed the first thing I looked up on their website was what’s on for kids?  When I saw the shows and activities on offer I knew that our two little girls would love every minute of our holiday there.  Daddy and I were also looking forward to having them be entertained all day, as we have two kids that have to be busy.  If they aren’t busy, and they slip into boredom, they can be a bit of a handful to say the least.  Being so

This Easter we have been invited to take a short break at Butlin’s in Minehead and we are one very excited family.  They are a holiday brand I’ve been keeping an eye on for a while as I can remember visiting Butlin’s in Skegness when I was a child.  Things have changed a lot since the 80’s and its pretty safe to say that so has Butlin’s!  Read on to find out why we are looking forward to our UK family holiday. A Relaxing Stay in the New Lakeside Chalets Butlin’s

Menorca is a very popular holiday destination for UK families, and if you haven’t been yet it really is worth moving this travel destination to the top of your family bucket list.  Menorca is a small island off the coast of Spain, and is part of the collection of islands called the Balearics. Despite being in close proximity to Ibiza and Majorca it is a very unique island with a character and culture all of it’s own. With around a 2 hour flight time from the UK, and a promise

In November, we were lucky enough to be invited to Bluestone National Park Resort in Pembrokeshire to join them for the winter season.  Perhaps I should say, we were invited to the Kingdom Of The Elves as Bluestone takes on a whole different persona in the winter, and some very special visitors play host to the guests that are staying there.  The elves, along with Santa Claus, take up residence at Bluestone, turning it into a magical festive bonanza of Christmas fun and activities, for the whole family to enjoy. The two

UK outdoor holidays are becoming increasingly popular as they offer that sought after ‘get away from it all’ experience just a few hours drive away from home.  Throwing everything you need in the back of a car without having to worry about baggage allowance or check in times certainly has it’s appeal for families and couples who are starting to choose a UK holiday over travelling abroad. Not everyone has the time, or inclination to erect a tent or gather all the equipment required for camping, but don’t rule it

Mauritius has very much become the home of the affordable luxury family holiday with over 100,000 British tourists visiting the island every year.  The climate offers sunshine all year round which makes for the perfect winter getaway.  It’s beauty is encased in the still blue waters of the Indian Ocean and it’s tropical white sands making it the perfect playground for a family getaway.

It is no secret that I love to visit Spain.  I am a huge fan of the country, it’s culture and especially it’s food.  Add to all that glorious sunshine, beautiful sandy beaches and a glorious coast line and for me you have the perfect family holiday.  I have been lucky enough to visit mainland Spain a lot.  You’ll have heard me talk about Nerja a lot and our recent trip to Fuengirola.

Al Fresco Holidays was a new concept to us, but as a family with young children who enjoy travelling we were keen to give it a go.  Can you believe our visit to Tamarit Park was our first holiday together as a family this year considering how much I talk about family travel? That’s the problem with having a big age gap family, getting us all on the same trip can be a challenge.  Daddy was definitely ready for a break and the kids are always up for some sea and

Dubai probably isn’t the first place that you think of when you are planning an affordable family holiday.  It’s a holiday destination that conjures up pictures of huge yachts and luxurious hotels, so it must cost a fortune to go there, right? Actually, it might not be as costly as you might think.  Dubai has been attracting more and more tourists over recent years and it turns out theres lots of reasons to visit.  We all deserve a touch of luxury in our lives, and at least once in a
