Karcher K7 Full Control Plus Pressure Washer Review

When we were asked to review the Karcher K7 Full Control Plus Pressure Washer I had a feeling it was going to be the solution to the majority of our outdoor cleaning problems.  This is our first time owning a pressure washer so I had no idea how to use it or if in fact it would be up to the job of cleaning things like our decking and our car.

I thought I would have a go at setting up the Karcher K7 Pressure Washer myself, which is always a good test of how easy a new product is to use.  The pressure washer instructions were easy to follow , even for me.  I did find watching some YouTube videos on how to set up the pressure washer helpful, as I just find video instructions easier to visualise.

To get the Karcher K7 Full Control Plus Pressure Washer to work it needed to be plugged into the mains.  It also needed a hose to be connected to it for the water source.  If you are new to using a pressure washer, you might not realise that they need to be connected to a hose before you being cleaning with it.

What You Get With The Karcher K7 Full Control Plus Pressure Washer

As well as the Karcher pressure washer, the K7 Full Control Plus also comes with the following:

  • Vario Spray Lance
  • Dirtblaster Spray Lance
  • T450 Racer Patio Cleaner
  • 1L Stone and Paving cleaner
  • High-pressure 10m hose  with reel

The K7 pressure washer is very compact and the hose, cable and lances can all be stored on the unit.  Most pressure washer reviews you read will tell you that the K7 Full Control Plus is a heavy unit.  They are absolutely right, but the pressure washer is actually very portable.

The large wheels, extendable pull handle and the kick bar mean that the pressure washer can be moved easily to where it needs to be.  The integrated 10m hose also means you can reach most areas that require cleaning without having to move the pressure washer much while it’s in use.

Where To Use The Pressure Washer

The area that needed cleaning the most outside our home was our decking.  Moss was growing in the groves and with the wet damp weather we’ve been having it was becoming slippy and dangerous to walk on.  We tried to clean the decking manually but it’s really hard work and doesn’t clean it as much as we would like.

decking needs cleaning with pressure washer

Cleaning the decking with the Karcher K7 Pressure Washer was so easy and effortless compared to other methods we have tried.  My husband tested out the pressure washer first and we could all see the results on the cleaned areas of the decking immediately.  He also used it very successfully on the patio doors and windows.

Next it was my turn, and I had the job of finishing off cleaning the decking with the pressure washer while he took the kids to the park.  One of the first things I noticed was that this was a very powerful pressure washer.  I would strongly recommend wearing outdoor boots and old clothes especially if you are cleaning in a small area.

If you are wondering whether the pressure washer will remove moss, the answer is the Karcher K7 will have no trouble at all shifting even very stubborn patches of moss with ease.  On our decking it had paint from the children’s craft activities, leaves and other garden debris to contend with and it had no trouble at all removing any of these from the decking.

You might also be wondering if your pressure washer will remove deck stain?  The answer is that it depends on how you use it.  In order to protect the deck stain we kept the pressure low and held the lance 2/3 inches away from the decking.   In all honesty the paint on our decking wasn’t great to begin with.

If anyone says to you that you can use fence paint on decking, the correct answer to that question is no, which we found out the hard way.  We actually didn’t mind losing some of the deck stain as when the warmer weather comes, the entire decking needs repainting and now we are a step closer having it prepared for the job.

Whilst I was cleaning the decking I also found that the pressure washer had no trouble cleaning the patio chairs, bikes, outdoor toys and also paving.  I would also be happy to use this pressure washer on our car, wheelie bins, and any other solid outdoor surface that needed cleaning.
