If you are visiting Berlin with or without kids then I would strongly recommend adding a visit to Zoo Berlin to your list of things to do.  You’ll find the Berlin Zoological Garden in Tiergarten and it’s easily accessible from the S-Bahn, U-Bahn and bus stops. Just look for the stop marked Zoologischer Garten in each case. I have been lucky enough to stay in two hotels near to Berlin Zoo, 25hours Berlin and Hotel Palace Berlin and it was on the second trip that I knew I had to visit

If you read our blog post about going to the Nickelodeon Treasure Hunt in Malta, you might already have spotted that we visited the Esplora Interactive Science Centre.  Esplora Malta made such an impression on us that I had to share a review from our visit.  My husband is the hardest to impress when it comes to days out and attractions in our family, and he loved visiting here with the kids, which is a real testament to what a great place this is to visit in Malta. The beautiful capital city of Austria, Vienna,  is considered one of the most charming cities in the world.  No wonder it is one of the most popular places to visit in Europe among many tourists. Maybe it is its prime location in Central Europe. Maybe it’s because of the fact that it has a long and incredible history in terms of culture and the arts, which is still widely celebrated in  the theatres and concert halls not only in Austria, but all over the world. Not only is it a

Our planet is filled with extraordinary places, and extraordinary experiences, just waiting for us to come along and explore them! Unfortunately, however, not all of us can afford to just pick up and take off. Don’t lose hope! There are ways where you can not only see the world, but do it on a pretty tight budget!  Traveling is something I honestly believe every human should experience, regardless of financial background. Through my experiences, I’ve been able to put together some pointers to help you save big on your next

I wasn’t going to write a review about the Monica Isabel Beach Club in Albufeira, but after our holiday in Portugal at this hotel I felt I should share our experience on the blog.  I want families considering booking a Monica Isabel Beach All Inclusive holiday to make an informed decision before they decide to stay here whether they use Sunmaster, Jet2 or Thomas Cook. I booked a 5 night break to Monica Isabel Beach Blub Albufeira with Sunmaster Holidays for me and the girls for the first week of

When I had finished booking our holiday to Albufeira in Portugal the first thing I looked up was ‘is there an Albufeira tourist train?’.  My kids love the land trains that you find a lot in Europe and they are often a fun activity for families that help with sightseeing too.    It turns out there is an Albufeira tourist train but there’s very little information on the internet about it. Even when I asked at our hotel, they didn’t have any leaflets and didn’t really know much about it

Not only is Dubrovnik a stunningly beautiful tourist destination but it’s also a fascinating place to visit with children.  If you have realised that this part of Croatia ticks a lot of boxes for families then you are going to love these things to do in Dubrovnik with kids. The historic buildings and crystal clear waters really do set the scene for the most incredible family holiday experience.  Don’t get me wrong, there’s lots of exploring to be done and children can find a visit here tiring but if you

Written in collaboration with Mary J Choosing where and with whom to holiday is always exciting. Getting to research a place and then start to organise the trip is an exciting and thrilling experience that makes the actual trip all the more fun. And although travelling as a family is great, once in a while parents should take a few days to themselves and have a grown-ups only vacation. The key word in the previous statement is “a few days” so finding a location that can accomodate the amount of

When you think of Amsterdam there are several elements that might spring to your mind automatically; you don’t always see it as the perfect European city break to take your kids right? Spain is one of my favourite countries to visit because I love the culture, the food and the landscape.  When I was invited to explore the region of Costa Barcelona I knew I had to accept, and I was excited to explore this region of Spain from the outset.  I’m also really excited to share with you what I discovered and I don’t think you will be disappointed! Before I get into all the fantastic things we got to see and do in Costa Barcelona, I have a confession to

After a very early flight to Berlin, and more coffee than was probably sensible, I caught the bus from Berlin Schönefeld Airport to Alexanderplatz in search of the Hampton by Hilton Hotel, where I was due to be staying for the weekend. I was incredibly early for check in, but I wanted to drop off my bags before heading into Berlin City Centre to begin exploring the sights. The bus dropped me off in the main square of Alexanderplatz, and I chose to walk the 5 minutes or so to the hotel

If you follow the Zena’s Suitcase Instagram account, you’ll already know that I’ve had quite a few Berlin city breaks over the past 18 months.  I’d like to think that this makes me an expert when it comes to things to do in Berlin during a weekend away.  With a flight time of less than 2 hours from the UK, Berlin is a great city to visit in Europe.  It’s also a place that is important to go to if you care about people and politics, as there are some

I have been lucky enough to visit Berlin 3 times now, and it’s all thanks to CHAMÄLEON Theater and their fantastic new circus performances and wonderful hospitality.  I was invited to see their latest show, Finale, last month and I was really excited to see what the new performance had to offer. My first visit to Berlin was to see Scotch & Soda, a wonderfully crazy performance from the Australian group, Company 2.  More recently, I saw a very different circus performance from the theatre called Parade.  It literally couldn’t

One of my very favourite trips in recent years was my visit to Iceland, just over a year ago.  While I was there, I was keeping an eye out to see if families were traveling with kids, and if I felt it was a destination my brood would enjoy.  To my surprise there were a lot of families with children visiting Iceland, and very young children at that.  With so much to see all over the country, I could see why families would take children there. Since that holiday in

All Inclusive family holidays are a great option for parents who want a stress free break with the kids.  When you know that all your meals, snacks and drinks are included in the price it makes planning for your holiday so much easier.  It’s a huge peace of mind knowing that the kids can get an ice cream or a snack when they fancy one, and I know Mum’s and Dad’s really value the wine and cocktails on offer.  You are on holiday after all! If you are looking for

If you are looking for family friendly hotels in Son Bou, Menorca you will not go far wrong with booking a holiday at Royal Son Bou Family Club.  We were lucky enough to stay at Royal Son Bou last year and it was definitely one of our favourite family holidays of 2017.  If you would like to find out more about our experience you can read our Royal Son Bou Family Club holiday review here. I think sometimes Menorca is a misunderstood island, and ends up carrying the reputation of

This year I have come to realise that Germany is a fantastic destination for family travel.  When I was given the opportunity to visit the country again to find out about the best things to do in Hamburg with kids, I knew I wanted to share it with Brook, my 3 year old daughter.  We left Daddy and Indie at home for the weekend, and we headed to the Holiday Inn Express at Stansted Airport to begin our Hamburg with kids adventure. I was really looking forward to sharing a new

On our final day in Hamburg my daughter and I headed across town from the Holiday Inn we were staying at to find Tierpark Hagenbeck (Hamburg Zoo).  We managed the bus and subway journey just fine, until an over helpful passerby tried to put us on the wrong S Ban. It was quickly resolved and we were soon heading in the right direction in time for our appointment with Sabina who was going to be giving us a guided tour that day. Despite being a cold November day, the weather

It was pretty grey and damp when we arrived in Hamburg, so I was really pleased that the first activity we had planned was a visit to Chocoversum in the heart of the city’s historic centre.  If you are looking for things to do when it’s raining in Hamburg, Chocoversum is a great place to put at the top of your list as it’s inside AND it’s all about chocolate.  Everyone loves chocolate now, don’t they? My 3 year old daughter and I joined an English speaking tour at Chocoversum which

Arriving at Holiday Inn Hamburg The Holiday Inn Hamburg is situated just outside of Hamburg, but do not

I have been lucky enough to visit Berlin twice this year, and it’s a city that’s starting to feel very familiar to me.  If you are thinking about which city to visit in Europe I can definitely recommend Berlin for so many reasons. There’s lots of interesting historic and modern places of interest in Berlin that you can tick of your bucket list during a short visit.  For a city that has a very dark past, it’s come along way in terms of it’s culture and there are lots of

I left my house at 3am to make the 2 hour car journey to London Stansted Airport to catch my flight to Berlin that weekend.  The kids had both decided to visit me at 1am to rob me of the precious sleep I needed this particular night, so by the time I arrived in Berlin I was feeling a little dishevelled to say the least. I walked towards the Hotel Palace Berlin with everything crossed that my room would be ready and I would be able to check in.  I

It was an absolute delight to be invited back to Chamäleon Theatre in Berlin so soon after seeing the previous show, Scotch & Soda back in March. When I received the email asking me if I would like to see the latest show, PARADE, I knew I couldn’t turn it down.  I was so excited to see what was coming next from my contemporary circus friends in Berlin, and I was curious to see how they would top their previous show stopping efforts. Pre Theatre Visit To The TV Tower Before

Ferry crossings to places like France and Holland  have become incredibly popular with people travelling from the UK.  With the flexibility of being able to take your car to Europe and a wide range or facilities and creature comforts on board a ferry it’s obvious to me why they are becoming the go to choice for travellers. One of the things that caught my attention about travelling by ferry from the UK was the price.  It’s definitely a cost effective way of getting to France, Holland, Belgium or Germany especially
