October Half Term Holidays UK Ideas

Halloween at Butlins

Butlins know how to celebrate the holidays and provide jam packed programs for kids to enjoy no matter what the season.  We were blown away by all the things there were for kids to do when we visited Butlins.  Our biggest challenge was keeping up with Brook and Indie who wanted to pack as much into their day as possible.

West Lakes Village Butlins

With the promise of pumpkin carving, trick or treat trails and Halloween discos at Butlins for October half term, your little ones will have the most magical experience.  When they have completely worn themselves out, you can all enjoy a relaxing evening in a luxurious chalet at the West Lake Village and I promise you won’t be disappointed.  For more information visit https://www.butlins.com/

October Half Term Breaks at Bluestone Wales

Another favourite UK family holiday of ours is visiting Bluestone Wales in Pembrokeshire.  They will be celebrating Halloween this year with a very special Bwbach Festival which is not to be missed.  As well as the fantastic Blue Lagoon Waterpark and indoor Adventure Centre providing families with plenty of active fun, there will be spooky crafts, light shows and the popular Great Bwbach race!  If you want to find out what that is, book yourself a stay at one of Bluestone Wales spacious luxury lodges and find out!   If you would like to read our Bluestone holiday reviews, you’ll find them here and here.

With nine locations across the country to choose from including Sherwood Forst in Nottinghamshire and Deerpark in Cornwall you’ll soon be embracing the darker evenings in peaceful surroundings with this perfect get away from it all break with the family.

Fun Packed Short Breaks at Drayton Manor Park

Drayton Manor Halloween

If having fun with your little ones is the name of the game, then one of the best places to go for October half term is Drayton Manor Park and the Drayton Manor Hotel.  Described as ‘more treat than trick’ it’s the perfect short break for younger children being home to Europe’s only Thomas Land and also Drayton Manor Zoo.  With lots of Halloween inspired fun planned between 20th October and 2nd November and a 4* hotel to relax in at the end of a busy day this is a treat not to be missed.  Check out their October half term breaks now.

Halloween Farm Stay

If your little ones love tractors and animals why not consider a farm stay as one of your October half term holiday ideas.  We loved our stay at The Olde House in Cornwall but there are plenty to choose from across the length and breadth of the country with a variety of accommodation to choose from as well.  You can see what’s on offer at Farm Stay UK or search farm stays near me on google for some more inspiration.

Edinburgh City Break

Edinburgh is a fantastic city to explore as a family, with already a lot to offer before you start looking at the halloween celebrations they have planned in the city.  With lots of family friendly hotels located in the city and domestic flights available from many UK airports it can make for a stress free family experience without even leaving the country.  A visit to Edinburgh is perfect for little explorers and history buffs as it’s a city with lots of tales to tell.  For some ideas and inspiration check out my 2 day itinerary for visiting the city which contains lots of family friendly activities.

Treat Yourself To a Hot Tub

The air might be getting a little crisp but there’s no reason why you can’t treat yourself to a little luxury with a hot tub break at Darwin Forest in Derbyshire.  This resort has lots of family friendly facilities including an indoor swimming pool, soft play and outdoor play areas for the kids.  The log cabins are the perfect retreat for families who enjoy the outdoors and some are pet friendly if you want to take your dog on holiday too.

  1. Oh we loved Butlins – such a brilliant place. Bluestone is a firm favourite too. Kaz

  2. Great suggestions! I would definitely recommend Forest Holidays at Sherwood! I didn’t visit with children but Sherwood Pines is just a few mins walk away with loads of play areas, Go Ape, bike rental, Forestry Commission visitors centre where you can hire Explorer packs as well as the activities you could do on the site.
